Change in Accessing the 146.82 SWIARC Repeater

News / Saturday, November 30th, 2024

Effective 12/7/2024 the KØSWI 146.82 repeater will be set to require a CTCSS tone on the input in order to access the repeater.
This means that in order to key up the repeater, users will need to set their radio to transmit a 136.5 Hz tone, also known as a PL tone or a sub-audible tone, in order to key up the repeater.
The reason we are implementing this change primarily is because there is a signal at 146.205 MHz that is causing the 82 repeater to transmit a bunch of noise from time to time. Occasionally, when the band opens up, other hams using their local repeaters are also getting into our 82 repeater. By implementing the CTCSS tone on input we avoid both of these problems.
