For six months or more several of the hams that meet for breakfast on Saturday morning at Sugar’s have threatened to install a tower in Chris KFØFBL’s back yard. Chris is, after all, our Station Trustee and is the protector of the KØSWI station license for SWIARC. A person holding this prestigious position should have a tower! This act of generosity and appreciation was to take place as a surprise to Chris and his bride Deb while they were out of town.
This last weekend the opportunity presented itself for five local hams who called themselves “The Crew” to go to work. Chris and Deb were out of town. The Crew gathered at Chris’s house to erect the tower in the back yard. Now, bear in mind that these five guys (no, not the burger guys) have all had extensive experience in the ham radio hobby, and three of them have had a lot of experience climbing towers. The other two have experience being the ground crew, or ground puppies. So, the installation process went swiftly and safely with no problems, and the job was completed in what seemed like no time at all.
The Crew, Greg NØGR, Dan KBØTDW, Craig KDØYTI, John KØMXL, and Paul WBØGXD then packed up and left Chris house after a job well done. We are all anxious to hear from Chris after his return from his trip!

We are hoping and expecting that Chris’s new tower will give him lots of years of trouble-free service, and we are looking forward to installing some new antennas at Chris’s house in the near future! Enjoy, Chris! And remember, The Crew is standing by to help you install those new antennas whenever you’re ready. So get those new antennas on order and start planning on installing them this Spring!

We hope that you get many years of enjoyment from your new tower. And if you water it, and feed it lots of RF, keep it well grounded, and sprinkle a little magic tower dust on it from time to time, it will grow it’s current 4-foot height into a beautiful, majestic antenna support system that any ham would be proud of!
