SWIARC Picnic and POTA

Saturday, September 14th, 2019

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Lake Manawa State Park (Picnic Shelter #2).

Join us for a fall day of radio play and camaraderie.  This will be an event for members, family and anyone who has ever (or wanted to) Ker-Chunked the club repeater

Traditional Fall Picnic Menu will include hotdogs/brats, chips/dips, and desserts.  Coffee and water will be provided.  Hotdogs will be charred around 2:00 PM

There is a $5.00 Iowa State Park Entry for Non-Iowa Residents.

You are welcome to bring your radios and antenna’s and participate in Parks on the Air (POTA), show off new projects, test antenna’s, expose new HAMs and new club members to radios and operation and as always log as many contacts as our strength allows.

The club call (K0SWI) will be requested for POTA.    Lake Manawa has been activated as a park, however, multiple activations are of parks are common.

Other Activities

W0NEU will bring a small flat screen with access to local TV networks, ESPN(s) and BTN Streaming (Verizon network connectivity dependent).  In an attempt to track the big games of the day. 

You are welcome to bring a picnic or tailgate game

What to Bring:

Attendees Please bring a snack, dip, sweets or a tailgate favorite to share on the snack table. (snacking starts upon arrival of the first snack, ends when the table is empty…..)

Bring a Comfortable Lawn Chair to supplement picnic tables.  There are several large 16-foot tables which will be dual purpose station use and eating.  There are also two more tables nearby.  Bring a personal cooler with your preferred beverages (water will be provided).

 

Volunteers can be utilized for the following:

  1. W0NEU will set up Generator and one POTA Station. Additional POTA Stations welcome
  2. Depending on the number of operators we will develop a band plan if needed.
  3. Clean-up (W0NEU will bring trash bags)
  4. Promoting other fun things to do….
