FDay 2022 at Manawa

News / Saturday, June 25th, 2022

Greeting you on arrival at the West side of Lake Manawa site were these three Amateur Radio banners plus four (4) decent size tents and a couple of generators. At the Noon safety meeting Keith KEOAEP handed out a number of items; a reprint of the safety page in QST magazine, and a large print callsign page, KOSWI, with the regular phonetics (not the late night version, Said While Intoxicated or worse) and the exchange, 4A IA. More than a dozen of us were there and included Tom NOGSG from Kansas City, a friend of Keith’s.
.
Keith also handed out a copy (from FCC dot gov ULS) of our KOSWI license with our club name. It’s not SWIARC, not South West – –
SOUTHWEST IOWA AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
This is what you put down for which club you’re assigning your home points to. Don’t get it wrong. We don’t want 2 or 3 entries with a couple hundred points each. All our points should go to 1 club name.
.

.
Here’s the list of Noon time crew:
Keith KEOAEP
Tom NOGSG
Allen KCOJHA
Gary K8JOK
Craig WONEU
Ryan WONU
Rick KAORLR
Dan KBOTDW
Derek WOTYG
Wayne KNOWDJ
Craig KDOYTI
Rich WAOZQG
and Patsy N1CE
.

.
Conspicuously absent from the setup group was Paul WBOGXD, but he is one of our best operators and was there at 1:01PM on 14.250 USB One Delta Iowa, pounding out contacts which he will assign to us. (SOUTHWEST IOWA AMATEUR RADIO CLUB)
.

.
This was Dan KBOTDW’s Yaesu radio and computer display showing contacts. Dan and Rick KAORLR ran this a lot.
.

.
And the impressive 43 ft HF vertical.
.
We had at least one interesting visitor, Steve KC4JGC from Virginia Beach VA who left his truck in the (exit 1) Pilot parking lot and came over for the night. He feasted on some leftover ribs and then spent the night helping.
