82 Freq Display

News / Thursday, December 17th, 2020

Saturday Noon Swap Net featured Nothing For Sale 12/19, but we did call for pics of your rig tuned to .82 and this was the first pic received, 2 mono band Kenwoods, TS711 and TS811 for 2M and UHF respectively, each tuned to a SWIARC repeater freq. However, the guy who took the pic was in such a hurry he didn’t sign his name.
.

Kevin NOMHK has this quad band, dual VFO Yaesu 8100 set up on both input and output (.22 and .82) to instantly switch over and listen on input freq. When asked if he’s ever worked the other two bands with the rig, Kevin said, quote, The answer is exactly what you expected it to be when you asked the question.
.
One more item here: Notice top right in the pic, chart of Amateur Radio bands. This is one more reason to join ARL. The magazine prints this page every month. You rip it out and frame it above your station desk. Quick, what are the Tech privileges on 10M? There it is on the chart, 28 to 28.5 with phone .3 to .5, and all limited to 200W.
.

Dan KBOTDW has this Yaesu FTM-300D on .82 and beside it, both 220 and GMRS radios. What’s on GMRS Ch 22?

Bill KDOFJR has his dual band Yaesu 400 set up on .82 VHF and Paul GXD’s 442.525 UHF repeater in Council Bluffs.
.

Paul WBOGXD sent in this pic of his ifr Service Monitor, a multi kilobuck piece of test equipment that tells you all about the signal you’re receiving. Any VHF radio tech worth his salt wishes he had one of these or has plans to get one.
.
Below are two more of Paul’s radios, an FT-1 H/T, and FTD-400, both Yaesus.

Here’s what started the idea, a pic of my OptoElectronics model 2600 freq counter while I’m transmitting on .82 with my Baofeng UV5R. You’ll note that I’m less than 100 cycles off frequency, well within the suggested 1 kc accuracy range. Oh, one additional bit of information, the Opto counter is a couple of decades old and I’ve recently calibrated it with a brand new UV5R standard, the same radio which freq display is pictured. (Is that kind of circular logic?

Now here is a Kenwood 680 HF and 6M rig showing the proper numbers, 82, but on the wrong freq.
.
So send in a pic of your rig’s display on .82. Send it to WAOZQG at Hotmail dot com and we’ll put it up here. Use color film.
.

Ed KORPT from Lincoln NE was listening to the Tuesday night Conspiracy Net on .82 and sent in this pic of his 991A. Ed’s callsign is a vanity indicating his interests and expertise in repeaters. He is also the ARL SEC for this section.
